Brock

This is another image from my portfolio this semester. I wanted to shoot half product and half people, all relating to makeup and beauty. I had met Brock at another shoot, and asked him to come in and model some eyeshadow for me. He seemed down and it ended up going really well! I don’t have much experience shooting guys, but Brock was super nice and very patient with me so that was a big plus!

I was really happy with how the eyeshadow turned out, I used the Juvias Place palette I shot in my other blog post, and really liked the color contrast of the eyeshadow and the background. I hope to continue doing more stuff like this as I build on to my portfolio!

Juvias Place

For one of my portfolio shots, I wanted to shoot an eyeshadow palette. I wanted something bright and colorful since my “style” consists of a bright color palette.

So, I went to Ulta to find something that fit and ended up buying the Sahara palette from Juvias Place. I wanted this palette regardless so I decided to shoot this one and ended up being really happy with the results!

Alison

I asked Alison to model for me for my portfolio, which is more beauty and make up based. This is one of the many pictures I captured that I really loved! Alison definitely came through, and was really patient with me even though I poked her eyes out a couple of times while trying to apply her makeup. I’m excited to edit some more of these and see which one I’m going to use for portfolio!

Pano assignment

For our panoramic assignment, I used the same barn I did for the time-lapse assignment. I was there with Amber and Sera, assisting Ambers photoshoot. It was honestly very last minute, we were all sweaty and tired and ready to go. Although I still think that this is a pretty cute shot considering the circumstances!

Unsure

I have been struggling a lot with portfolio recently. I don’t feel like I have had a break through as to what I should be doing and if it even looks good enough to be put into my portfolio. With not much time left before we go to internships, I have definitely been feeling the heat to get this done.

I took these images last week. I’m trying to create a beauty/fashion portfolio so I thought something with lipstick as the main selling point would be fun. I tried to make it colorful and vibrant, and playful as well. I don’t even know if I like the lipstick image, every time I look at it I change my mind, I’m also figuring out the crop because all of them look weird to me. I feel like I haven’t taken a “wow” image yet, so that’s a little disappointing. Hopefully I can figure that out soon.

Charleston.

This weekend I travelled to Charleston, SC to take a trip and celebrate mine and my niece Kaley’s 21st birthday. I was really excited because I had never been to Charleston but I’ve always wanted to go. We walked around and explored all day Saturday. Visiting the battery, the historical district, king St., and all of the cool little spots like the theatre and dancing to some jazz and 80’s music at the Commodore.

I really enjoyed my stay here, the architecture and history of the town sparks my interest. These were taken while we were walking around and exploring the town. I can’t wait to go back and visit!

Creativity

Creativity has been a quality I have been trying to focus a lot more on. Sometimes I find myself getting distracted from my original idea I wanted to execute. I have been trying to organize and actually think my shoots out.

Our style is something Danraj has been pushing since the beginning of the semester, and although I feel like I have my style somewhat down, it is hard for me to stay in that box. Although this is something out of my Style, it is something I really enjoyed shooting, and I’m really hoary with how they turned out!

This was shot for our client 4 assignment. It was a portrait of someone we don’t know very well. I wanted to go in having some kind of direction going in, and I had this idea in the back of my head, saving until a good opportunity came to use it.

…. Buildings?

As someone who stays holed up in a dark studio all day, I don’t have much time to shoot things that interest me other than product and beauty shots. Don’t get me wrong, I love what I’m shooting right now, but I don’t wanna get too burnt out on it and not enjoy it as much.

I stumbled across this old image I had from when I first started shooting, and it reminded me that I can shoot things other than homework. Sometimes I get too caught up in work that I don’t make much of an effort to shoot anything else. So I’m going to make it a point to get out and shoot for fun this week!

Barbie…. You Good?

Last week’s client assignment theme was conceptual photography. So, basically it is a photograph that expresses an idea. I have come to really enjoy this type of photography, and find myself recently playing with the concept without trying to. So, I was pretty excited about this project! I had an initial idea that was different than the one you see above, but after cutting out all of the paper by hand and editing the crap out of it multiple times due to my hard drive failing on me week, I still feel like something is missing in this image. Although, I had fun in the process and got to play with some bright colors so I still got something out of it!

Summer Blues

August is usually my least favorite month. From school starting again to it being unimaginably hot and humid, I just never had a good time. This year I realized that it was a lot different. I realized that I would miss this summer, and the last few weeks we have left. I got to see Blink-182 in the Pit and see the Jonas Brothers on the floor all in the same month. Something I never really thought would happen, but had been on my bucket list since middle school.

A lot of hard work and growth has happened since last winter, and I have come to enjoy hot weather and the sun on my skin. Don’t get me wrong, there is much to look forward to in the fall. In-between my birthday and all my favorite holidays that make it so special, but there is something I’m going to miss after summer is finally gone.
